Just go out and …
Just go out and take photos and enjoy your camera (whatever the badge stuck on the front). Canon, Nikon, Leica or Fuji who cares, they are all good (excellent).

How did you come to …
How did you come to this conclusion? Also, please define what you mean by “resolution sharpness” as they are two separate things. If possible, please post a link of side by side shots you have made with both camera at the same time, with the same subject, with same raw processor. As well, include examples of scans of prints you have made at larger sizes where “resolution sharpness” may be noticeable.

Currently I only …
Currently I only own a Leica MP and Sigma DP-1. Working at one of the busiest camera stores in Australia I don’t get to be as cheeky as I would like. So all I am doing is a little bit of stirring. Like I said earlier, in my opinion most of the cameras available from any manufacture are more capable then most of the photographers that use them. If this has upset anyone wait and see what I will have to say about the new Nikon D90, Canon 50D and Photoshop CS-4 in a week or two.

I know of three …
I know of three guys that have changed from Canon 5D to D700 and have never been happier. One guy who shoot for Getty payed for his own D3 camera to use at work even though Getty provide him with three, One series Canon cameras and lots of lenses. It really doesn’t matter, from the rubbish you see on the web and in exhibitions, I would guess that 95% of people that own either of these cameras don’t get close to to seeing the full resolution or quality capabilities of these cameras.

This apply to SOME …
This apply to SOME of the D700’s - most D700’s are in a good working order.
Nikon announced the factory to pause D700’s production to repair and fix problems, - such as -
Defective sensor • fails to deliver results without blown highlights at minimum aperture at low ISO • focusing screen is slightly misplaced • high ISO banding appears after ISO 800 • short battery life (expects to have at least 1,500 shots per charge but it dies after 250 shots) • AF-C tends to back-focus slightly.

Nikon d3 is not …
Nikon d3 is not even close to Canon 5d resolution sharpness and i don’t think D700 will come close either.

It is a shame Canon …
It is a shame Canon don’t have any sharp wide angle lenses like Nikons 14-24mm f2.8. The sharpest shots I ever got from my 5D where using Leica lens Via an adapter. Also the Canons focusing system I feel lets them down. What would be good for Canon would be to put their chip without an anti aliasing filter in a Nikon body, use the Olympus focusing from an E-3-and get Fuji to sort out the colour. Even if Canon make the perfect camera they will it will still take terrible shots in the wrong hands.
